They crossed each other’s path when they met through common friends and got webbed for lifetime through www (the social media). And it was after two long years of dating that the Shubh Muhurat came in Rujuta Vaidya and Arjun Menon’s love life. The bitter sweet encounters culminated into a 10-day long wedding full of love, emotions, interesting facts and loads of inspiration. The destination for the once-in-a-lifetime moment was Calicut, Kerala that connected not just two souls and two families but two different worlds altogether. Hailing from two different states, Mumbai and Kerala, Rujuta and Arjun’s jodi was truly ‘made in heaven’.

Unlike other weddings and love story, this was completely different that went beyond finding a match or a compatible partner. From understanding each other, to knowing the families, arranging meetings, personal discussions, 24/7 assistance of friends, the couple especially the bride, walked an extra mile to make it heavenly, blissful and a success.  The amazing journey of the Vogue India’s co-digital editor, Rujuta, the bride and her Mr Right, Arjun Menon begins here. Let’s have a look at the duo’s poetic and traditional destination wedding at Raviz Kadavu (the wedding venue), Calicut.

The Matchmakers For  The Unmatched Chemistry

Besties- The souls connected at an official meet at a house party thrown in honor of a close friend’s farewell. Post the event, the couple had a date which lasted for almost nine hours. The date must be as nostalgic as hell! Isn’t it?

Social Media- The duo was no less than the characters of Jab We Met because after their first meet, their hearts started fluttering and the diametrically opposite world of the couple started becoming one. Then onwards, their better half was just a click away. Their social media stories, posts and tweets soon started churning up.

Friends, family, fun, decor, ensembles and the cool clicks together too created an unmatched chemistry!

Magic over the meals: Eat, Propose, Celebrate

Internet kept playing Cupid till it became a success story.  Finally on one dinner date over Moscow Mules and guacamole, Rujuta’s beau, Arjun went down on his knees to pop the question.

The bride had revealed, “Before I knew it, he was down on one knee, grinning with a ring in his hand. I have always wanted a sapphire ring and he conspired with my friends to get just the right one customised. I couldn’t focus on eating after that, something that rarely happens to me. We went to another party and danced our feet off. We didn’t want a formal engagement. My cute proposal at a restaurant was fuss-free and endearing."

All went down a little fancy and authentic with a sizzling sapphire ring that started a new chapter in the couple’s life!

The 10-day long Destination Wedding

The balmy and beautiful backdrop of Calicut, Kerala were epic and romantic to make Rujuta Vaidya's wedding an ideal celebration. The timeless and dreamy location at Raviz Kadavu (the wedding venue), marked the traditional taste of the families and made everyone feel like being transported to a poetic world

Here is what the bride revealed on her wedding with the man of her dreams, “Most of the wedding was planned and coordinated by close family members, but we went with Mr. &.Mrs. The Wedding Planners for the decor. Since it wasn’t Mumbai, I was careful to ask for things that would be available locally. My only demands were that there should be no gerberas in sight, and to avoid too much red. We managed to do all the things that are traditionally done in both Maharashtrian and Malayali customs—from start to finish the events went on for 10 days.”

Al Fresco Sangeet Decor- Al Fresco is the catchphrase and the aspect that describes the outdoor setting or celebration. For the sangeet, the bright and colourful seats were certainly been fashioned over to make it stand out. The entire look was bloomed up with colours and fairy lights and had a lot to offer and spoil us for choices.

The bride had jumped into the details, “For the al fresco sangeet, we had fairy lights and bright seats lining the amphitheatre.”

Main Wedding- The latest and phenomenal decor elements made the entire wedding decoration complete and surreal. Mix of jasmines, roses and faux candles on the stage were mesmerizing and worth book-marking.

Wedding through the Lenses: Photography

What made the wedding more picturesque and luxurious was the House on the Clouds- a studio based in Bangalore. Well, there was absolutely no compromise with the photography and the couple was on cloud nine with the House on the Clouds to document their entire love and wedding story. With awesome services, the photographers captured the moments to perfection and turned the nuptial into a dreamy affair.

Explaining about the wedding being captured in an ethereal manner, the bride had said, "House on the Clouds was my number one photography service of choice. I almost didn’t have their dates! I don’t think I pushed for anything more than having them at my wedding. It is my firm belief that a good photographer can make or break what you remember from an important event and I wasn’t taking any chances.”

The ‘Wow’ Wardrobe of The Bride And The Groom

Bride, Rujuta

Lover of monotone, the bride took the world by storm with her wedding outfits. She didn’t match up to the style of the location or custom of Kerala. Infact, it was months of sampling, hunting, and fine-tuning to get her dream ensembles in perfect colours, shade and pattern. Let’s have a look at the couture that sashayed her down to the aisle.

Sangeet- She made way for an appealing powder blue lehenga with cutwork details and glass beads all over. The outfit added immense dimension and style to her personal taste.

Haldi- It was a fit and flattering yellow sleeveless kurta and flared trousers, which she sported with enamelled floral jewellery. The simple and traditional kurta certainly added to the fun and freedom at the ritual. What say?

After-party outfit- The easy slip-gown in shellac pink was irresistible in its style, colour and pattern.  The attire was inspired from the American actress, Gwyneth Paltrow’s pink Ralph Lauren gown from the 71st Academy Awards.

Groom, Arjun Menon

The smart groom planned his silhouettes as per the humid weather of the region. He stayed fresh and cool with light, stylish and clan-cut outfits in breathable fabrics.

Sangeet- A short linen kurta and a sleeveless jacket from Anita Dongre was chosen for the sangeet to whisk away the sweat and the stress. Quite cool and traditional! Isn’t it?

Wedding outfit- The wedding outfit was quite creative and a stylish number from Karalkada.  The Kasavu border was woven with real gold threads which was certainly a show-stealer. He teamed the attire with a simple silk shirt chosen by his parents.

After-Party- The bride added, "He went full Bruno Mars with a shirt printed with lightning bolts, white jeans and white sneakers.”

Well, the casuals must have given him absolute freedom from the heavy and royal attires. We just appreciate the exact specifications and precise detailing that the bride and groom preferred for their wedding silhouettes.

The bride’s Confessions

She has convincingly taught the future brides-to-be that it is perfect to be imperfect when it comes to walking down the aisle. Here is how she threw some light on her not-so-perfect attitude like taking time to zeroing on the wedding outfit, having doubts and confusing her friends.

She has confessed, “Let’s just say things could have wrapped up easily a month in advance if I didn’t obsesses over the smallest of details."

Two-state wedding: A quick wrap up

It was a wedding between two states, two different set of people, two different mind sets and yet the result was every bit romantic, unique and memorable. No wonder the language was obviously the barrier between two parties. And no one was sure as to what to expect from the ceremony. It took time for the things to set in and sink in. However the lovebirds pulled it off with much élan, grace and integrity.

However the time passed off quickly and before she knew, her main wedding rituals had past. Here is something very interesting that the bride had revealed about her marriage. Read on:

It didn’t hit me until I was walking down the aisle with my family and friends, when the lights dimmed and the music came on that this were actually it. By the time the tali (mangalsutra) was tied and rings were exchanged it was all over in 20 minutes. I thought I would cry during the ceremony but it all happened too quickly. Arjun and I shook hands to seal the deal.”
